Rintaro Tamaki named as OECD Deputy Secretary-General

PARIS – The OECD is pleased to announce that Rinatro Tamaki has been appointed as Deputy Secretary-General.
Mr. Tamaki presently serves as Japanese Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs and has wide experience in economic, development and taxation issues both in Japan and internationally.
In 2002, Mr. Tamaki worked at the Japanese embassy in Washington, after serving as Director of the Japanese Development Policy Division. He was previously an Alternate Executive for Japan at the World Bank. In the early 80s he worked in the Economics Department and the Fiscal Affairs Directorate of the OECD.
Welcoming this nomination, OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría noted that, “Rintaro Tamaki has hands on knowledge of the OECD’s broad array of policy issues and will bring valuable new insights to the organisation. His international reputation, experience and skills will be great assets to help the OECD achieve its mission at this critical time for the world economy. I look forward to working closely with him.’’
Mr. Tamaki will oversee some key areas of the OECD’s work programme, including environment, development, taxation and fiscal and financial affairs.
