The sanctions against Russian oligarchs who hold billions of dollars have mostly failed to have a real impact beyond freezing a few yachts and properties.

A year ago, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was seen as a historic opportunity to uncover hidden assets from Russian oligarch and other sanctioned entities and individuals.

The Financial Transparency Coalition (FTC) and the Independent Commission for the Reform of International Corporate Taxation (ICRICT) held a virtual event on Wednesday, 22 February 2023.

The year 2023 is going to be crucial for financial transparency and tax justice, as countries around the world desperately seek funds amid multiple crises, whist grappling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
