Financial Transparency Coalition

In September, the Financial Transparency Coalition welcomed the Argentina-based NGO Fundación SES to the Coalition’s Coordinating Committee. Founded in the midst of Argentina’s severe currency crisis in 2001, its mission is to work for educational, social, political, and economic inclusion of teenagers and young adults, who were viewed as most impacted by the economic upheaval.

From Argentina’s La Nacion newspaper: “Switzerland has denied the Argentine judicial authorities information about 4,000 or so Argentine-owned bank accounts in Switzerland, saying that Argentina’s request had no solid foundation.” This concerns data revealed by an HSBC whistleblower, Hervé Falciani, which has caused a political storm in many countries and forced Falciani to go into hiding. 

Every other week, the Task Force highlights a Featured Allied Organization. The Task Force has more than 120 member organizations from all over the world which endorse its mission. Helmerich & Payne Inc. (H&P) has entered into an agreement with the Department of Justice to resolve improper payments by H&P to government officials in Argentina and Venezuela in violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
