Coalition News: Transitions at the FTC

June 27th, 2017

On Monday, we announced a few changes taking place soon at the FTC. Please find the full letter below from FTC’s Director, Porter McConnell, and Programs Manager, Sarah Vaugeois:

Dear Friend,

As a valued colleague, we wanted you to be among the first to know that we are moving on from the FTC on July 14.

It has been a profound privilege to work with so many talented and committed individuals across the globe. We have accomplished so much together in our time at the FTC:  rechristening the unwieldy Task Force for Financial Integrity and Economic Development into the Financial Transparency Coalition, the creation and evolution of the Southern Regions Program and committing to a transition from a northern coalition to a truly global one, fighting for and winning (nearly) public beneficial ownership registers in the EU, coming together on a global push for the UN tax body, and perhaps most impressive, making financial secrecy a subject of pressing global debate and forcing some extremely powerful adversaries to justify their actions on our terms. Building a top notch secretariat to coordinate powerful global advocacy against illicit financial flows has been a labor of love for us.

We have been honored to work for the FTC for four and six years respectively, but we know that no one person is indispensable. We look forward to others building on what we’ve accomplished and going further!

Be on the lookout for a new leadership announcement in the coming weeks, and don’t forget to join colleagues and friends at the 7th Financial Transparency Conference in Helsinki on October 24-25.

Onward!

Porter McConnell, Director
Sarah Vaugeois, Programs Manager
