Twitter is Down, Check the Website for Regular News Updates

Apologies to any of our Twitter followers out there. Apparently the social networking giant is suffering from a system wide outage. According to the Washington Post, Twitter says that they "are determining the cause and will provide an update shortly." We'll continue to post news articles on the website and the blog, so check back here regularly for news updates throughout the day. Global Witness Encourages Clinton to Address Conflict, Corruption in Africa

Task Force member Global Witness has released a statement urging US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to address the issues of conflict and corruption - particularly in regard to natural resources - on her current trip to Africa. From Global Witness:

Supporters of Luxembourg’s Tax Haven Status Silence Criticism

Nick Shaxson and John Christenson at the Tax Justice Network have pointed out that a Luxembourg think tank, the Cercle de Coopération, has been forced to withdraw a report that it published which was critical of Luxembourg's status as a secrecy jurisdiction and highlighted the negative effect it had on developing countries.
