It's been widely reported today that the UK plans to crackdown on tax evaders in an effort to assist developing countries. Indeed, the Wall Street Journal reported this morning:

LONDON--The U.K. government will on Wednesday set out proposals to broaden the crackdown on tax evasion to benefit developing countries, setting a year-end deadline for a U.K.-led multilateral tax-information-sharing accord with emerging nations.

Prem Sikka: The United Kingdom is Enabling Terrorist Financing

Prem Sikka, professor of accounting at the University of Essex, has an article published on the Guardian's website today which explains how British lawmakers are enabling terrorism by prioritizing laissez-faire over public safety. From the article:

US security officials claim that the growing presence of terrorist networks operated by al-Qaida and others in the UK poses a major security threat. The UK fights wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but its domestic laws can enable Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida and others to own and operate companies and move resources.

OECD Warns Ghana: Don’t Become a Tax Haven, It Causes Corruption

The Guardian just published a fantastic article citing concerns from the OECD about Ghana's growing popularity as an offshore financial center. The OECD now openly warns that Ghana's potential status as a tax haven could facilitate corruption. From the article:
