U.S. and UBS Still Working on a Deal

Switzerland and the United States were engaged on Friday in the final stages of efforts to reach an agreement to settle a legal case that sought to force the Swiss banking giant UBS to disclose the names of wealthy American clients suspected of tax evasion.
“The parties are still taking,” Stuart Gibson, a Justice Department lawyer who is trying the case, said on Friday during a conference call with the court overseeing the matter. Mr. Gibson asked Judge Alan Gold of Federal District Court in Miami to hold another conference call at 11:30 a.m. on Friday to discuss the matter.
