Corzine inks rule against corruption

In his boldest play yet to force the resignation of Ridgefield’s mayor, Gov. Jon Corzine signed an executive order yesterday freezing state approvals for development projects in any city or town where a mayor has been charged with public corruption but refuses to step down.

The order, which took effect immediately, makes no reference to Mayor Anthony Suarez by name, but comes a day after Suarez publicly repeated his intention to remain in office while he fights charges he accepted a $10,000 bribe from an FBI informant posing as a developer.
