Last month, the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) released a report to outline how shifting to a new international information exchange system would work. Enacting automatic information exchange (AIE) globally would allow countries to share tax, revenue, and financial information of companies operating in multiple jurisdictions, which could help greatly in trying to clamp down on illicit financial flows.
However, when large-scale reform is considered, it’s vital that we examine all angles, to make sure that the system will benefit everyone, and not just a select few. A new report from FTC coordinating member, Tax Justice Network, offers a complete look at the OECD’s new position, and how it may be improved.
