Communications and Reporting Manager

We are delighted to announce a new position at the Financial Transparency Coalition. The Financial Transparency Coalition (FTC) works to curtail illicit financial flows through the promotion of a transparent, accountable, and sustainable financial system that works for everyone.

The FTC was founded in 2009 under the name of the Task Force on Financial Integrity and Economic Development. Since its inception, the FTC and its members have successfully mobilized governments and citizens to take action against illicit financial flows, while advocating for a more transparent financial system that better serves for financing development. We use our wide reach and deep expertise to influence global norms and standards for financial transparency, and close loopholes in the global financial system.”

A bi-lingual Spanish and English speaker with excellent communications and writing ability is needed to showcase the FTC’s global body of work. Based in Lima, Peru at the offices of FTC member Latindadd, the successful candidate will have responsibility for all external communications of the Coalition and lead the Coalition’s narrative reporting to funding partners. The candidate will be required to travel extensively to participate in and support communication of members’ activities across the globe. The external communications responsibilities will include oversight of the FTC website, relationships with journalists and media internationally, driving forward and developing the FTC’s media strategy, and regularly writing for the FTC website to both showcase the work of the FTC’s members and engage with the policy debates and key news affecting the FTC’s mandate to combat illicit financial flows.

This position reports directly to the FTC director.

The responsibilities of the Communications and Reporting Manager will include

  • Closely following the activities of the FTC’s 12 member organisations, and identifying media and communications opportunities to highlight through the FTC’s website
  • Lead responsibility for producing FTC’s narrative reporting for funders and partners on a 6-monthly basis
  • Implementation, monitoring and reporting of Measurement, Evaluation and Learning metrics for the FTC’s work, including coalition-wide and for members’ activities
  • Producing a monthly report or blog for the FTC website, and supporting the FTC director to produce a monthly newsletter about key sectoral issues, news or FTC activities
  • Draft communications materials, including preparation of press releases and their dissemination,
  • Managing FTC’s social media presence and placing opinion pieces in target media outlets around key advocacy moments
  • Supporting the Director in preparation of members meetings, including with input into strategy and impact
  • Supporting FTC Director and members in preparation of public education and advocacy events, including with high-profile participants and VIPs, including high-level government officials
  • Support the FTC director to develop and implement the FTC communications strategy
  • Supporting the Director in developing fundraising proposals
  • Supporting the development of the FTC’s 2020 Conference, in collaboration with the FTC director and a conference consultant
  • Cultivating relationships with journalists and maintaining an up to date list of relevant media actors and organizations, including use of CRM software and Salsa mail list manager tools
  • Other tasks commensurate with the level of the position

The essential skills of the successful candidate will include:

  • Bilingual Spanish-English fluency
  • Excellent English and Spanish written ability including copy editing skills
  • Experience of fundraising proposals and narrative reporting
  • Experience with media engagement, including preparation of communications materials
  • Experience of civil society advocacy and campaigning activity
  • Interest in working on international affairs, especially financial transparency, international institutions, and taxation
  • Knowledge of website management (WordPress)
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in NGOs in international development finance, preferably focused upon political communication, press and/or campaigning

Desirable

  • Experience of working in international NGO network organisations
  • Direct experience of FTC’s core policy advocacy issues in advocacy or campaigning organizations
  • Experience of preparing communications and summary materials for advocacy and media
  • Experience of organizing advocacy-oriented events, including seminars, conferences and press conferences

The position will initially be offered on a contracted basis through 2020 with the possibility of renewal.
